Healthy Eating Guidelines
v Aim to lose weight slowly in order to attain and maintain an ideal body weight ( ± 2kg per month).
v Increase your water intake to 2 litres per day.
v Avoid fried foods.
v Eat 5-6 small regular meals per day, to keep blood sugar levels constant and to help prevent over eating.
v Try to avoid alcohol.
v Limit refined foods, e.g. White bread, sodas, sweets, cakes and pastries.
v Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables each day.
v Decrease your salt intake.
v Start an exercise program, at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise three times a week.
Reduce Your Fat Intake
v If you need to fry foods, use olive oil.
v Steam cooking is an easy way to avoid frying.
v Use low fat milk and fat free yoghurts.
v For desserts use fruit with yoghurt, low fat custard or diabetic ice-cream.
